Book Review | The Fault in Our Stars

Yes, dear readers, I've finally read it. OMG, I can't believe it took me so long to do it! I love this book! I even watched the movie the morning after I finished it. The movie was very good, but it definitely missed some great moments from the book. My review follows, but please note that I had a really hard time writing it. This book was incredible, such a wonderful story full of awesome characters and some of the best dialogue I've read in a long time. It was so hard to put how I felt about the book into words, but I did my best. Enjoy!
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
This was another book I read because of how much I kept hearing about it. I'm so glad I did. This is one of the best stories I've ever read. Not only was the story itself very powerful and emotional, but I loved the characters and the dialogue. The entire book was fascinating and a pleasure to read.
There were, of course, many moments of highly emotional tugs, but I expected that. There were also moments that were completely unexpected... Reading Hazel and Augustus' love story was a beautiful experience. Not only watching these two extraordinary teens fall in love, but see them experience true love with one another.
I also loved how well the author covered dealing with illness. I grew up with a heart defect, and although it doesn't compare to having a terminal illness like cancer, I can sincerely say that I have been through a lot of what Hazel went through. The author was spot on with many of her emotions as she experienced her day-to-day life of living with cancer, and the really rough spots she had to deal with due to her illness.
I've written many reviews before, but I'm honestly having trouble writing this one. This book gave me so much that it's hard to put into words. All I can say is if you haven't read it yet, you must. I'm so glad I finally did. Thank you John Green for giving readers such beautiful words. It is a true gift.
